Making Professional Personal

Hawkeye, Kelce’s Brother Hawkeye is Available!

Last week I shared a picture of me with “Kelce,” Greg in California’s new furry family member! He shared some high compliments after receiving Kelce from the puppy transporter. It was exciting to hear that by adding my own personal touch, I really touched their hearts and helped reassure them that they’re adopting a puppy from not only a reputable breeder, but someone who loves each and every puppy that’s a part of our program! It’s amazing how far a “selfie” or just sharing personal experiences with people can go!

“Thank you [Bek] for all your personal help with the sale and transportation. Your mom [Julie] is lucky to have you working with clients.

Three years ago when we bought our little boy from Jewels, what sold us was a picture of 8 poodles, on what we assumed, was Julie’s bed. That picture, for us, is the same as what you are doing to keep the non-business like feel in the company. For those of us that want family members not breeders you’re a great asset to the business. We do know the necessity of the business to pay the bills. You're a good addition to the team.

Thank you again also to Julie and Reino. We love our new family member and the two are already getting along great…We would not hesitate to work with Jewels again. And gladly recommend Jewels to friends.”

Adding Personal Touches to Routine

Though we use templates in a lot of the emails we send to our puppy adopters, Julie and I both add a lot of personal touches to each email, whether that be our personal thoughts on their situation or which puppy we could recommend. Sometimes we even take the time to attach or send additional pictures and videos if we have them on hand. You can learn more on the Puppy Buyer Education we provide and the templates we send on our Preparing for Success Blog Post.

It can be easy to make someone’s day, but you really just have to make them feel like they’re talking to someone. Someone real, someone who understands what they might be going through, and most importantly, someone who’s eager to help them make the decision that’s right for them. It’s never our intention to make someone feel like they’re talking to a robot, or worse, getting scammed! There’s enough scary and sketchy situations out there as it is, and we’re always flattered when we have someone reach out to discuss a pup with us!

Posting Personal Experiences on Social Media

I want to preface this section by saying at the beginning of this year, I was AWFUL at Facebook. We would get messages that wouldn’t even be read for up to 2 weeks. That being said, I’ve been a lot better lately, and get to messages throughout each business day. Sometimes even on my day off, I’ll hop on real quick to answer simple questions, or I’ll let Julie know that there’s an important question that needs answered! We do have auto-replies on for other simple questions people might have too so that they’re not left unattended.

Lately, I’ve been trying harder to post more personal content on the Story section of Facebook. I’ll take our puppies outside (for fun on a “Work-Break”), and then I’ll whip out my phone and film them a little bit and show off our interactions. They really are too cute, and I’m eager to share that with the world!

The Professional-content can be fun too, but it can feel dull without a personal touch. I love to share puppy adopter content on our Facebook page! It’s always nice to see a happy family, or a puppy enjoying their new home. It’s also fun to see the silly moments, so I definitely encourage pupdates and anyone who feels like reaching out!

The Value of Home-Raised Puppies

We often get the question, “where are the dogs kept?” We answer, in our home of course! But the more accurate statement would be a counter-question… which ones? A special few are spoiled rotten, and sleep in Julie & Reino’s bedroom. This group can rotate too depending on who’s pregnant, or who just needs some extra love from Mama Jewels. Others love to follow us around in the main area as we take care of chores and clean-up, while others are out in the yard enjoying the sunshine!

The value of a home-raised puppy is that the family members have additional things to say about each pup. Since Julie & Reino live here with the puppies, they can add more insight, and they can give extra love to each of the poodles— aside from the regular business-hour employee here at Idaho Jewels. We all have our favorites, and love spending time with each and every adult, puppy, and newborn that’s around our home! They are all a huge part of our furry family!

Because we value the connections we make with our adults, we also encourage local homes to become a guardian home. It’s amazing the value that a guardian home can bring. Our adults get extra love from a home who is eager to watch them have puppies without the chore of finding a stud, finding homes for the puppies, or the hassle of taking care of them day-to-day. That personal touch from our guardian homes is greatly appreciated, and we’re always looking for more homes for our gorgeous adults!
